Ingredients

4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, either skin-on or skinless

1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce (for a healthier option)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

2 tablespoons sesame oil

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for a thicker sauce)

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

1 cup broccoli florets (or any vegetable of your choice)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce:

    - In a small saucepan, mix together the soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

      - Heat the mixture over medium heat, allowing it to reach a gentle simmer. For a thicker sauce, create a slurry by mixing the cornstarch with a tablespoon of cold water. Stir this into the simmering sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Once done, remove it from heat and set aside.

        Cook the Salmon:

          - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down if applicable. Allow them to cook for about 4-5 minutes.

            - Carefully flip the salmon fillets over, then drizzle half of the prepared teriyaki sauce over the top. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes, basting occasionally with the sauce until the salmon is fully cooked and easy to flake with a fork.

              Steam the Broccoli:

                - While your salmon is cooking, steam the broccoli florets in a steamer basket set over a pot of boiling water. Steam the florets for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender yet still crisp.

                  Prepare the Rice:

                    - If your jasmine rice is not pre-cooked, prepare it according to the package instructions. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork right before serving to ensure a light and airy texture.

                      Serve:

                        - To assemble the dish, place a generous scoop of jasmine rice onto each plate. Top it with a salmon fillet and drizzle the remaining teriyaki sauce over the fish. Arrange the steamed broccoli on the side for a colorful presentation.

                          - Finish by garnishing the plate with sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions, adding a fresh and vibrant touch.
