Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

2 cups cooked jasmine rice (for serving)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

⅓ cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir the mixture until the beef is well-coated. Let it marinate for a minimum of 10 minutes to allow the flavors to develop while you prep the other ingredients.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch them for 1-2 minutes until they are vibrant green and tender but still crisp. Drain the broccoli in a colander and set aside.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook it undisturbed for about 2 minutes for searing, and then stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds or until fragrant and golden.

Combine Everything: Return the blanched broccoli to the skillet along with the cooked beef. Pour in the oyster sauce and a splash of water to create a luscious sauce. Stir well to combine all the ingredients and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Serve: On each plate, serve a generous portion of jasmine rice. Top the rice with the beef and broccoli mixture. For a finishing touch, sprinkle with freshly chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if you like.

              Enjoy your meal!
