Ingredients

1 pound (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (divided)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce (divided)

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

3 cups cooked white or brown rice (for serving)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well to ensure every piece of beef is coated. Allow the beef to marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Sauce: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons of water, and sesame oil until fully combined. Set aside for later.

Stir-Fry the Broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the broccoli florets and stir-fry them for about 3-4 minutes, or until they turn bright green and tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. When the oil is hot, carefully add the marinated beef in a single layer. Allow the beef to sear without stirring for about 2-3 minutes. Then, flip the pieces over, and add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Stir-fry everything together for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is nicely browned and cooked through.

Combine & Stir-Fry: Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet with the beef. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and add red pepper flakes if you'd like a bit of heat. Toss everything together well, making sure the beef and broccoli are evenly coated in the sauce. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes until everything is heated through.

Serve: Divide the cooked rice evenly among plates. Generously top each serving with the beef and broccoli stir-fry. Finish with a sprinkle of chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
