Ingredients

4 large turkey legs

1/2 cup pure maple syrup

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried rosemary

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon sea salt

Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, melted butter, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, dried thyme, dried rosemary, black pepper, and sea salt. Whisk vigorously until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed and a smooth marinade forms.

Marinate the Turkey Legs: Place the turkey legs into a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the turkey legs, ensuring they are fully coated. Seal the bag tightly or cover the dish with plastic wrap to prevent any air from entering. Refrigerate the legs for a minimum of 1 hour, but allow them to marinate overnight for enhanced flavor.

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven temperature to 375°F (190°C). Cover a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper to simplify cleanup after roasting.

Prepare for Roasting: Once marinated, remove the turkey legs from the marinade, reserving the liquid for later use. Place the legs on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring the skin side faces up for even crisping during roasting.

Roast the Turkey Legs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Roast the turkey legs for 1 hour. Halfway through (after 30 minutes), baste the legs with the reserved marinade to infuse them with more flavor and maintain moisture.

Glaze the Legs: After the initial hour of roasting, take the turkey legs out of the oven. Generously brush the legs with additional maple syrup for a sweet glaze. Return them to the oven and roast for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin becomes beautifully caramelized and crispy.

Serve: Once fully cooked, remove the turkey legs from the oven and allow them to rest for 10 minutes outside the oven. This resting period helps the juices redistribute. Just before serving, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.

Enjoy: Present the maple glazed roasted turkey legs alongside your choice of sides, such as creamy mashed potatoes or a refreshing green salad for a delightful meal.
