Ingredients

12 slider rolls (mini sub rolls or Hawaiian rolls)

1 pound Italian sausage (choose between mild or spicy)

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup sliced pepperoni

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup sliced provolone cheese

¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)

½ cup diced bell peppers (red, green, or a mix of both)

¼ cup diced red onion

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot and ready for baking.

Cook the Sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the Italian sausage. Use a wooden spoon to break it apart as it cooks. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sausage is well-browned and no longer pink. If there's excess grease, drain it from the skillet.

Add Flavor: To the cooked sausage, stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, letting the flavors meld and the sauce heat through.

Prep the Rolls: Carefully slice each slider roll in half horizontally to create tops and bottoms for the sliders. Place the bottom halves snugly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Layer Ingredients: Spoon the flavorful sausage mixture evenly across the bottom halves of the rolls. Next, layer on the pepperoni, followed by the diced bell peppers, diced red onion, black olives (if using), shredded mozzarella, and sliced provolone cheese.

Close and Brush: Position the top halves of the rolls over the layered ingredients. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil with a pinch of salt, then brush this mixture generously over the tops of the slider rolls for a beautifully golden finish.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes, then carefully remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the tops are a delightful golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, take the sliders out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and flavor. Slice the sliders and serve them hot, perfect for a party or family gathering.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes | Servings: 12 sliders
