Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm or extra-firm tofu

3 tablespoons honey

3 tablespoons Sriracha sauce

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Begin by pressing the tofu to eliminate excess moisture, which will help it absorb the marinade better. Place the tofu block between two plates, and weigh it down with a heavy object (such as a cast-iron skillet) for 15-20 minutes. After pressing, carefully cut the tofu into slices, each about 1 inch thick.

Make the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar. Whisk these ingredients together thoroughly until well blended.

Marinate the Tofu: Arrange the sliced tofu in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the tofu, ensuring that each slice is fully covered. For maximum flavor, let the tofu marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If you're using a grill pan on the stovetop, heat it over medium heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Coat Tofu with Cornstarch: Take the marinated tofu out of the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off. Lightly dust both sides of each tofu slice with cornstarch. This step is essential to achieving a crispy outer texture when grilled.

Grill the Tofu: Place the coated tofu slices on the preheated grill. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes per side or until the tofu is golden brown and exhibits characteristic grill marks. Handle the slices with care while flipping to avoid breaking them apart.

Finish with Garnishes: Once grilled, transfer the tofu to a serving plate. Drizzle any leftover marinade over the tofu (for an extra kick, heat the marinade in a saucepan until boiling and use it as a dipping sauce). Top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions to enhance both flavor and presentation.

Serve: Serve the grilled tofu warm, accompanied by steamed rice or quinoa, along with your favorite grilled vegetables for a well-rounded meal. Enjoy the delightful sweet and spicy explosion from your Honey Sriracha Grilled Tofu!
