Ingredients

4 medium apples (recommended: Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced

1 teaspoon lemon juice

½ cup rolled oats

½ cup packed brown sugar

½ cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Optional toppings: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Instructions

Prepare the Apples: In a large mixing bowl, add the sliced apples and drizzle with lemon juice. Toss gently until all the apple slices are evenly coated. This step not only enhances the flavor but also helps to prevent the apples from browning.

Make the Crisp Topping: In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, packed brown sugar, all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt. Stir the dry ingredients together until well-mixed. Next, pour in the melted butter and mix until you achieve a crumbly texture with clumps forming.

Layer the Ingredients: Take a small baking dish that fits comfortably in your air fryer. Begin by evenly spreading the coated apple slices across the bottom of the dish. On top of the apples, generously sprinkle the prepared crisp topping, ensuring that all the apple slices are well covered.

Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for optimal cooking. Once it has reached the right temperature, carefully place your baking dish in the air fryer basket. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness around the 20-minute mark. The apples should be tender, and the topping should have turned a beautiful golden brown.

Serve: After cooking, use tongs or oven mitts to carefully remove the hot dish from the air fryer. Allow the apple crisp to cool for a few minutes to set slightly before serving. For a delightful finishing touch, serve warm with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
