Ingredients

1 large baguette or French loaf

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Begin by setting your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it's hot and ready for the bread.

Make the garlic butter: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter with the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, dried parsley, and red pepper flakes (if you like a bit of spice). Use a fork or spatula to mix until the ingredients are well incorporated and the butter is creamy.

Slice the baguette: With a serrated knife, carefully cut the baguette both lengthwise and through the middle to create two equal halves. This will allow for easy spreading of the garlic butter.

Spread the garlic butter: Take the garlic butter mixture and generously spread it over the cut sides of the baguette halves. Be sure to cover every inch for maximum flavor.

Add the cheese: Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the garlic butter layer, followed by an even distribution of grated Parmesan cheese, ensuring each half is well-dressed with cheese.

Wrap for baking: Place the prepared garlic bread halves on a baking sheet. Wrap them tightly in aluminum foil to help retain moisture while baking.

Bake in the oven: Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven. Bake for 15 minutes, then carefully unwrap the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and has turned a light golden brown.

Garnish and serve: Once done, carefully remove the garlic bread from the oven. Allow it to cool slightly for about a minute. If desired, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for garnish. Cut the bread into slices and serve warm.
