Ingredients

16 large cremini or portobello mushrooms

8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1 cup crab meat, drained and flaked (preferably lump crab for texture)

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 green onions, finely chopped (white and green parts)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning

Salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for a crunchy topping)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking when you're ready.

Prepare the Mushrooms: Gently clean the mushrooms using a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Carefully twist off the stems and set the caps aside. Finely chop the removed stems and reserve them for the filling.

Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, blend together the softened cream cheese, flaked crab meat, shredded cheddar, grated Parmesan, chopped green onions, minced garlic, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, and the finely chopped mushroom stems. Season this mixture with salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste, ensuring a balanced flavor.

Stuff the Mushrooms: Using a small spoon or a piping bag, generously fill each mushroom cap with the crab mixture. If you prefer a crunchy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the stuffed mushrooms before baking.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Lay the stuffed mushrooms on a greased baking sheet or an oven-safe dish. Make sure they are spaced slightly apart to allow even cooking.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is golden and bubbling on top.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, let the mushrooms cool for a few minutes. Finish by garnishing with freshly chopped parsley for an added touch of color and flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!

Presentation Tips: For an appealing presentation, arrange the stuffed mushrooms on a decorative platter and drizzle with a little extra lemon juice just before serving. Add a few lemon wedges around the platter for vibrant color and a hint of freshness.
