Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

2 large eggs, at room temperature

For the Filling:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

1 cup cooked bacon, chopped into small pieces

1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

For the Bourbon Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons bourbon

1 tablespoon maple syrup

2 tablespoons milk (adjust as needed for consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warmed milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating that the yeast is active. Add the melted butter, eggs, and salt to the mixture. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft and slightly sticky dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. Lightly grease a large bowl and place the dough in it. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free area for approximately 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, mix the packed brown sugar and ground cinnamon together in a medium bowl. Set this mixture aside for later use.

Roll Out the Dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to remove air bubbles. Turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle measuring roughly 16x12 inches.

Spread the Filling: Evenly spread the softened butter over the surface of the rolled-out dough. Then, generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture across the buttered dough. Finally, scatter the chopped bacon and optional chopped pecans evenly over the filling.

Roll and Cut: Starting at the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Place these slices in a greased baking dish, allowing a little space between each roll. Cover the dish lightly with a cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Rolls: Once the rolls have risen, place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

Make the Glaze: While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, bourbon, maple syrup, and just enough milk to create a smooth, drizzle-able consistency.

Glaze the Rolls: After removing the rolls from the oven, let them cool in the baking dish for about 5 minutes. Drizzle the luscious bourbon maple glaze generously over the warm rolls before serving.

Enjoy your sweet, sticky, and utterly delicious Bourbon Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls!
