Ingredients

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup marshmallow fluff

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

1/2 cup vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Prepare the Pan: Begin by lining an 8x8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, ensuring there is some overhang on the sides for easy removal later. Lightly grease the parchment paper with cooking spray or a thin layer of butter to prevent sticking.

Make the Fudge Base: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, heavy cream, and unsalted butter. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture continuously until it comes to a gentle boil.

Cook the Mixture: Once boiling, let the mixture bubble away for about 5 minutes without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature; you want to reach the soft-ball stage (234°F or 112°C) for a perfectly creamy texture.

Add Chocolate and Marshmallow Fluff: After reaching the desired temperature, remove the saucepan from heat. Immediately stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, marshmallow fluff, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue mixing until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.

Layer the Fudge: Pour half of the chocolate fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to spread it evenly across the bottom of the dish.

Add Custard Layer: Carefully spoon the vanilla custard over the first chocolate fudge layer. Use the spatula to gently spread it, ensuring it stays mostly intact without mixing too deeply into the fudge.

Top with Remaining Fudge: Pour the rest of the chocolate fudge mixture over the custard layer, spreading it evenly for a smooth finish.

Chill the Fudge: Place the baking dish in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 3 hours, or until the fudge is fully set and firm to the touch.

Cut and Serve: Once set, carefully lift the fudge out of the pan using the overhanging parchment paper. Dust the top with powdered sugar to give it a beautiful finish. Cut into small squares for serving.

Enjoy: Indulge in this rich and creamy Boston Cream Fudge, a delightful twist on the classic dessert that is sure to please any sweet tooth!
