Ingredients

1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped

1/2 cup ricotta cheese

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon balsamic glaze

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Optional: Additional cracked black pepper and extra balsamic glaze for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare the Crostini:

    - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

      - Lay the baguette slices flat on a baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart. Using a brush, lightly coat both sides of each slice with olive oil.

        - Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and toast the bread for about 8-10 minutes, or until the slices are golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye to avoid burning. Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack.

          Make the Ricotta Mixture:

            - In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and honey. Use a fork or a whisk to blend them together until you achieve a smooth and creamy consistency. Taste and season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to balance the flavors.

              Assemble the Crostini:

                - Take each toasted baguette slice and spread a generous layer of the honey-ricotta mixture across the top.

                  - Neatly arrange sliced strawberries on top of the ricotta layer, ensuring each crostini has a vibrant pop of red color. Finish by sprinkling the chopped fresh basil over all the assembled crostini for an aromatic touch.

                    Drizzle and Serve:

                      - To elevate the flavor, drizzle a little balsamic glaze over the top of each assembled crostini for a touch of sweetness and acidity. If desired, sprinkle with cracked black pepper for added warmth and depth.

                        - Serve immediately while they're fresh and the crostini are still crispy. Enjoy your delightful appetizer!
