Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)

Zest of 1 lemon and juice of the same lemon

1 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (for a smoky flavor)

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the salmon.

Create the Marinade: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, finely chopped dill, lemon zest, lemon juice, sea salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients until they are thoroughly blended, forming a fragrant marinade.

Marinate the Salmon: Transfer the salmon fillets to a shallow dish or large resealable plastic bag. Pour the prepared marinade over the fillets, making sure each piece is well-coated with the mixture. Allow the salmon to marinate for at least 20 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 1 hour for deeper flavor absorption.

Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and simplify cleanup. Carefully arrange the marinated salmon fillets on the baking sheet, placing them skin-side down. Reserve any remaining marinade in the bowl for later use.

Bake the Salmon: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 12-15 minutes. The fish is done when it turns opaque and flakes easily when gently pressed with a fork.

Optional Basting: If desired, during the last 5 minutes of baking, brush the reserved marinade over the top of the salmon fillets to enhance the flavor and moisture.

Serve: Once baked, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve each fillet with lemon wedges on the side for an extra burst of freshness, and sprinkle with additional dill if desired for a beautiful presentation.
