Ingredients

1 large flatbread (store-bought or homemade)

8 oz Brie cheese, sliced

2 ripe pears, cored and thinly sliced

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (plus additional for garnish)

Salt and pepper, to taste

¼ cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Honey, for drizzling

Arugula or mixed greens, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and let it heat up while you prepare the toppings.

Caramelize the Pears: In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the thinly sliced pears, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir to coat the pears and cook for approximately 5-7 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally until the pears become tender and start to caramelize. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper, then mix in the fresh thyme leaves before removing from heat.

Prepare the Flatbread: On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (if desired for easy cleanup), position the flatbread. Distribute the slices of Brie evenly across the flatbread, ensuring some space between each slice to allow for even melting.

Top with Caramelized Pears: Spoon the caramelized pears evenly over the Brie slices on the flatbread. If you love a bit of crunch, sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the top.

Bake: Transfer the prepared flatbread to the preheated oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the Brie is beautifully melty and the edges of the flatbread turn a golden brown.

Garnish: Once baked, carefully take the flatbread out of the oven. Drizzle with honey for sweetness, and sprinkle additional fresh thyme leaves on top for a pop of flavor. If you wish, add a side of arugula or mixed greens to the serving plate for a fresh and vibrant contrast.

Slice and Serve: Let the flatbread cool for a moment before slicing into pieces. Serve warm and savor the delightful combination of flavors!
