1 cup fresh ricotta cheese

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, tightly packed

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Zest of 1 lemon

1 tablespoon olive oil, plus additional for drizzling

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

4 slices of your favorite rustic bread (sourdough or ciabatta work beautifully)

Extra fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Whip the Ricotta:

    In a medium mixing bowl, combine the fresh ricotta cheese, heavy cream, tightly packed basil leaves, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Using an electric mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, beat this mixture on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes, or until it turns smooth, creamy, and airy. Taste and season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to your preference.

      Prepare the Bread:
