Ingredients

2 cups cooked macaroni pasta

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened at room temperature

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Panko preferred for extra crunch)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Non-stick cooking spray or olive oil for coating

Instructions

Prepare the Mac and Cheese Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni pasta, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and softened cream cheese. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until the macaroni is evenly coated with the cheesy mixture.

Shape the Balls: Take about 1-2 tablespoons of the mac and cheese mixture and, using your hands, roll it into small balls roughly the size of a golf ball. Once formed, place these balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Freeze for Firmness: After shaping all the mac and cheese balls, transfer the baking sheet to the freezer. Allow them to freeze for at least 30 minutes; this step ensures they maintain their shape during the air frying process.

Prepare the Coating: Set up a breading station by placing the all-purpose flour in one bowl, beating the eggs in a second bowl, and pouring the breadcrumbs into a third bowl.

Coat the Balls: Once the mac and cheese balls are firm from freezing, take each ball and roll it in the flour to coat lightly. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally roll it in the breadcrumbs until fully covered. Repeat this process for each ball.

Air Fry the Balls: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Place the coated mac and cheese balls in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they are spaced apart to allow for even cooking. Lightly spray the tops of the balls with a little olive oil to promote crispiness.

Cook Until Golden: Air fry the mac and cheese balls for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Be sure to flip them halfway through to achieve an even golden color on all sides.

Serve & Enjoy: Once cooked to perfection, carefully remove the mac and cheese balls from the air fryer. Allow them to cool for a few minutes on a wire rack to maintain their crispiness. Serve warm with marinara sauce or a creamy ranch dipping sauce on the side for a delightful treat!

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12-15 balls

                    - Presentation Tips: Arrange the mac and cheese balls on a serving platter and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color. Serve with dipping sauces in small ramekins for a fun and appealing presentation!
